Max Guests Hosts on WFYI’s The Art of the Matter Tomorrow

Hey MABsters!  I hope everyone had a great St. Patrick’s Day weekend and made it home safe.  A couple of weeks ago MAB performed at the Mousetrap with Mikial Robertson and killed it!  The crowd got some full-on MAB hip-hop with Shaan France coming out from behind the drums to flash some of his MC skills on “NIP”,  plus we debuted our take on the smash hit “Thrift Shop” (videos and audio to come).

Last Tuesday I was invited to be a guest host on WFYI’s The Art of the Matter.  I went to the Eiteljorg Museum where WFYI had their camera gear, lights, and teleprompter set up in the middle of theGuitars Roundups to Rockers exhibit for me to, well, guest host.  I hope you all get a chance to see how much bigger my beard is on TV.  The Art of the Matter will play tomorrow, Tuesday March 19th at 7:30pm on WFYI TV 20 and again on Saturday March 23rd at 6:30pm.  I had a blast doing it and I hope it turns out alright.

Last Friday MAB went up to Muncie to play at Folly Moon with Tonal Caravan.  Muncie was doing a 24 hour music festival and you could see the whole town was jumping with people.  More shows in Muncie will be added to the schedule for sure.

Sunday MAB played an early St. Pat’s Day show at the north side Claddagh Irish Pub.  It was a great show!  Eric Hammes filled in for Dace Robie, who was out of town for the show, and did a great job!  We did a two hour set straight through and he even helped out a little with harmonies.  I just want to say thanks for making it easy on me Eric.

Coming up this weekend, MAB performs at the Famous Duffy’s Place Theater in Valparaiso, IN on Friday, then we head down to 4th Street Bar and Grill Theater in Columbus, IN.  As always, this Wednesday and every Wednesday Max helps host the Mousetrap’s Family Jam.  Bring you’re axe, sticks, sax, or voice and come jam with the fam.

MAB Update

Hey there MABsters!  I hope everyone made it through the weekend.  We certainly did.  Unlike our last trip to Traverse City, we actually made it back home with a working vehicle this time.  Whew!  Again, Union Street Station was a success.   The people of Traverse City love music and having a good time.  We’re starting to see more familiar faces and continue to turn new people on to MAB.

Dace had to “white knuckle it”, driving the van through what Hoosiers refer to as oh no it’s slippery out, maybe we shouldn’t drive and what Michiganders refer to as just another day of driving road conditions Friday night, but we made it there safely, set up, and did our thing.  The next day we pulled out all the stops.  We got a good night’s sleep, got up, got coffee, and headed to the bar to set up the lights for the evening throw-down.  We had to make a quick stop at the Mall; Spencer’s Gifts is the only place in town that has fog juice.  Note: If you go to any bigger city that gets a significant amount of snow in the winter, you’d better believe that there are a lot of places that have amazing indoor facilities and everything looks like a mall.

Anyway, the Saturday night show was even better than Friday night.  The dance floor was full of bodies, sweating to smooth sounds of MAB for the majority of the evening.  Let me tell you, snow does not stop Michiganders from going out.  They love that shit! At the End of the night I was talking to some of the locals out in front of the bar when a snowball fight broke out! It was awesome!  Imagine downtown Bloomington, IN (or Cute Little Town, USA) with people on both sides of the street at 3:30 in the morning chucking snowballs at each other.  Just Awesome! I truly love the people of Traverse City.

On another note, this Friday MAB gets to return to Speedway High School for a little Convocation Rock Show!  It’ll be a lot of fun.  We’re going to do a little talking and a little jamming; we want to focus our message on how each and every one them has something good to offer this world and not to give up on reaching their goals.  We’ll see how my motivational skills are… it’s been a minute.  Wish us luck!

Saturday night we return to the Verve in Terre Haute, IN.  Always a blast in the Haute!

Next week at the Mousetrap we’ll be performing with very special guest Mikial Robertson!  This will be a good night not to miss.  Surely Mikial will sit in with MAB…

Last but not least.  We finally have a date booked for our CD RELEASE party!

Long time no see!

Hey guys!

It’s been a while since we’ve touched base, so we’d like to let you know what we’ve been up to.

First of all, we just released the first single from our new album. You can check it out on our ReverbNation page, or on Youtube. If you really like it, buy it on iTunes.

Our new album, “Everyone Thinks You’re Weird,” is due out later this Spring. We’ll keep you posted. We’re very excited, and once you hear it, we think you will be, too!

We are playing at the Abbey Pub in Chicago on Thursday the 24th, opening for the Luck of Eden Hall. We’re psyched about this opportunity to start mingling in the Windy City scene! If you will be in the area, we’d love to meet up. If you’ll be far away but you know some people in town, do us and them a favor and tip them off on this great weekday show!
